turning legend into fact isn't the job of historians but of myth makers. separating fact from fiction IS the job of historians. i think its pretty safe to say that most of TRUE history will remain unknown and the further back you go the more legend and reality becomes inseparable. its also safe to say that virtually every myth and legend is either BASED on some reality or is meant as a morality tale - OR BOTH! and king author falls into that 3rd category. king arthur was real, turned into legend, turned into morality tale. the man existed, his exploits greatly exagerated and later totally fictionalized over time to create morality tales for each new generation to learn from. unfortunately humanity has yet to learn how to learn from myths, legends, morality tales or history as we're stuck in an ever ending cycle of repeating our horrific mistakes from the past. as we continually fall for, praise, follow and reward immoral and unethical liars, frauds, con-men and charlatans.

@Magnus-v9x ... i, too, love the arthur stories. the myths of camelot and the round table where all knights were equal could've been what helped lead to the magna carta and the basis for modern democracy. someone once said to build a great nation first requires the making of great myths and legends; france has charlemagne (i know he really existed but its his legend we mainly revere), china has their "confucius" myths, japan their shogun and samurai myths, germany has their wagnerian myths and the u. s. has their paul revere, nathan hale and george washington myths. britain has more than its fair share of myths but king arthur and robin hood, i think, are the myths that define the unifying soul of that ancient nation. JUSTICE is a goal that should unite us ALL!

the first mistake in this video is equating "empire building" as something positive and progressive. its this elitist "empire' concepts that led to 7000 years of human suffering, greed, poverty, corruption, SLAVERY, murder and war. elitism has led to humanity rejecting nature and our own natural instincts. and turned us into gullible fools. humanity would've been MUCH BETTER off remaining hunter/gatherers. thanks to the elite humanity has been going BACKWARDS for 7000 years!

@Magnus-v9x .. i agree. my comment was to bolster your comment not criricize it. if "king" arthur did exist he would've been local tyrant bearing no resemblence to the myth; a local warlord of sorts like israel's king david. but i believe whoever first wrote about our kindly king got the name from somewhere. he must've been inspired by the exploits of a real historical figure who's name was passed down by word of mouth for generations. personally i think searching for facts about the man is in vain. its the lessons we should've learned from the legend that's important. and, sadly, those lessons have been largely ignored and turned into mere fairy tales to tell our children.
