@reasonablespeculation3893 … what you just wrote has no relation to anything wolff said. did you even watch the video? you cannot have political democracy without economic democracy. capitalism corrupts democracy at every turn. so the question is do you favor democracy or not? most capitalists are honest and admit they despise the very concept of democracy. they seek elitist rule and want nothing other than oligarchy and plutocracy as our political system. and so far - THEY'VE GOTTEN THEIR WAY FOR OVER 6000 YEARS. don't you think its time we stop allowing the elite to have their way ON EVERY ISSUE and try something different for a change?

i always enjoy Mr. Wolff's presentations but I always take exception to at least a couple of his neo-classical economic points. just 3 examples. 1st, capitalism ISN'T new. its not just 300 years old. its 6000 years old and its what's ruled every "civilization" in written history. capitalism is ANY system that produces and perpetuates an elite (among other things). 2nd, political democracy CAN'T exist within a capitalist system. capitalism always corrupts the political process to favor the elite and enforce its will. lastly, like Keynes, but maybe not in the exact same way, Marx favored big govt but theorized, if done correctly, the govt would "wither" away. man, was he wrong! what I just described are among the principles of equalism, a fresh and innovative new philosophy I founded to inspire people to action against this insane elite that pits us against one another so they maintain power. equalism says: capitalism is economic fascism and fascism political capitalism. one can't exist without the other. socialism is economic femocracy and democracy political socialism - one can't exist without the other.

@kowabonga1263 I agree with you. capitalism is fraud. legalized gangsterism. its extortion economics. it creates and exploits mistrust and conflict. but the first thing socialists must do is stop referring to socialism as utopian. utopian means perfect and perfection is impossible. what socialism offers is a MUCH BETTER society. one without poverty and economic predation. these 2 goals CAN be achieved but problems will still exist. socialism is more of a process than a conclusion. apathy and complacency will remain threats. socialism is a work in process and will require a dedicated commitment by the people not only to achieve it but to maintain it. and this is where education comes in. humanity must be deprogrammed from 6000 years of elitist propaganda telling us we're naturally inclined towards predation, conflict and elitist rule and subjugation. this is just a lie and we must fight this lie everyday. but another lie is that socialism will bring utopia. it won't and every time we present socialism in that way we not only misrepresent it we turn people away from it!

@tomcho8221 ... first you have to know the difference between a "civilization" and a society. not all societies but ALL civilization since sumer have had elitist social hierarchies. that means they were capitalist. any social system where an elite exists, "elite" being any section of society that benefits more than the rest, is capitalist.

@DiThi … equalism understands that capitalism and free-marketism are not synonymous. there's nothing free under capitalism; not markets or people or anything else. lenin implemented a system of "state capitalism." in words he may have claimed to be socialist but in practice he was just as elitist as any capitalist. and marx is just another example of old 19th century thinking. and he was wrong about the state withering away. bureaucracy have a tendency to self perpetuate and grow in complexity, inflexibility and oppression.

@DiThi … equalism is THE TRUE alternative to the left and right and its NOT a centrist position at ALL! its an actual new, unique and innovative view of the world, each other and OURSELVES. its purely anti-fascist and anti-capitalist but it defines political and economic terms correctly. capitalism, in fact, embraces and implements BOTH big business AND big govt. equalism denounces both. both the left and right claim capitalism and free-marketism are synonymous and both claim the soviets were socialist. and they're both wrong. if you want to break free from repeating the mistakes of the past join the equalism movement. so why not actually watch the channel and learn about equalism before passing judgement on it?
