  3. you know, its really a sad state of affairs when we have to actually beg people to believe that they are actually real. but we have morons out there who actually believe shapeshifting lizard people rule the world, that gender is a choice and can be changed and that trump won the presidency. people suffer from a MASS psychosis i call "paranoid gullibilty."   9.  @codinghub3759  ... first, its not a theory. its a simple thought experiment not to be taken seriously or as fact. according to this thought experiment belief in religion was programed into us. our blind aliegence to authority was programed into us. our gullibilty and stupidity were programed into us as was EVERYTHING ELSE! my point is the experiment is nothing new. its been a part of religion from the beginning. it simply changes in specifics to reflect the level of technology we possess at any given time. if computers didn't exist, this "simulation nonsense" wouldn't exist either.

"meat modem" i like that phrase. but i disagree with everything else you said. notice how these so-called "theories" adjust to the level of technology society has reached? years ago, we were all the product of some god's dream. now we're all the product of some god's technology. god doesn't know everything anymore, some crazy computer is programed to know everything now. god no longer dictates our every move. some computer does. in today's "modern" myths and delusions computers have taken the place of god and nature. its fun to think and talk about. but for heaven's sake, there's NOTHING REAL about it!

"we can question our dreams in reality but we cant question our reality while in our dreams." wonderfully phrased. i love using juxtapositions like that too. but its not entirely true. there's such a thing as lucid dreaming. i, myself, have had dreams where i realize i'm dreaming. but i've NEVER believed i was dreaming while being awake. but i've wished it often enough.

  23. there's an easier way to simulate a universe. you program, not the actions or history of your simulated universe, just the memories. the universe could be just seconds old but we'd never know it because we were created with fake memories to simulate an active universe with a billion year history.

  24. @Matthias Murdych ... the entire point of this thought experiment is that what we believe is real isn't real. i'm saying you don't have to create an entire universe simulation. all you have to do is create the false memory of an entire universe and history. and that includes your OWN memories. all that's needed is to create the memory to create the illusion.
