these guys already bought their fares. its the damned stupid, fascist automation they couldn't figure out. 99% of the country DOESN'T have subways. the fascist state has ILLEGALLY replaced all human interaction with MACHINES! so if you have a problem with the machines you can't use the fare you just bought. there's NO ARGUING with or explaining to a damned corporate fascist machine. if the city screws you out of your fare you're just spit out of luck. are people really this out of touch with reality? public transportation is in the toilet in this counntry. as is the medical, legal and educational systems. the whole damned system is a sham ans=d a scam. haven't you figured it out YET?

@bonniejohnstone ... i understand how it works, my friend. i've been on subways in chicago and los angeles. all these guys had their prepaid tickets. but their tickets didn't work. they were probably using them incorrectly. but there was NO HUMAN there to tell them how to do it. the bars were held up to let those who's tickets weren't working pass through. the whole thing's one big scam. subways are built using taxes. they should be FREE for anyone who wants to use them.
