AGAIN, there's no modersation. no compromise. it has to be all one way or all the other. maybe we should concentrate on teaching people rather than indoctrinating them.
you know, there are books out there that a full of blatant, intentional lies, hate and overtly "adult" content. so-called "book-banning" is a GOOD thing in ALL school libraries. we don't want minors being exposed to such books as hitler's "mein kamp" or de sade's "philosophy in the bedroom." there needs to be age restrictions on books AND music. i hear 10 year olds singing along with some of the most hateful, vile and pornographic lyrics ever written. exposing kids to and selling ADULT CRAP to kids is must end.
what's available to adults in public libraries is one thing. but there must be a completely different criteria in choosing which books kids have access to in public or school libraries. i think maybe schools should be teaching more tolerance, empathy, self-restraint, self-respect and moderation instead of the fascist philosophy that its-all-about-me-and-what-i-want, "ANYTHING GOES" irresponsibility, greed and self-interest.
freedom is MORE about respect for other's rights and social responsibility than about unrestrained "individualism," social chaos and mayhem.
