@darkbrother339 ... you just described my experiences too. from the 7th grade thoughout my 20s i had the same basic group of friends. adding and losing a few here and there along the way. making new friends when you're young seems so much easier than when you age. making new, TRUE friends as an adult has been almost impossible for me. no one's on the same wave-length as me. they don't even know how to party right. all i ever seem to meet are lightweights, liars or users. AT BEST! as a youngster i had many friends but i still spent much time alone too. i liked the choice. i believed the world was only going to get better. little did i know how much a nightmare life would turn out to be.

@sonicleaves ... i disagree. what you earn is owed to you. and, like respect, if you earn someone's friendship its owed to you. there's a lot of lonely people out there who've earned both respect and friendship but are getting neither.

@TerriTemple ... i've made that suggestion many times. but when you try to volunteer and all you hear is "we have enough volunteers" even that sets you back. what i did was create my own philosphy called "equalism" and i've dedicated my life to it. it hasn't made me any friends but its given me a goal and a purpose in life. I LIVE MY PRINCIPLES and that too turns people against me. people, in fact, DESPISE non-hypocrites and people of high ideals. i've devoted my life to making a better world FOR EVERYONE! its their loss if they don't want to join me. i'll just keep doing it anyway.

@bmoshareholderappleshareho855 ... the video makes a distinction between being alone and being lonely. you can be completely alone and not be lonely and be surrounded by people and be lonely as hell. i've been alone most of my adult life. both from choice and rejection. its their loss not mine. i love myself and my own company. but lately, as i age, i've become more susceptable to loneliness mainly because of the help i've needed. i have no one to turn to for help when i need it. no advocacy for my needs. over the last 15 years i've been screwed left and right. denied police protection, legal representation and medical care. i don't even have anyone to speak to to talk things out and help relieve my burdons. I DESPERATELY NEED HELP! i'm very ill but i'm completely on my own to fend for myself. one man against a huge callous, corrupt and uncaring bureacratic system doesn't stand a chance. having no family, friends or advocates in times of crisis really sux BIG TIME!

@123girlie ... another drawback to being alone is you have no advocates to help you when you need it. right now i'm extremely ill. most days i can barely function. i can still fullfill my monthly obligations like paying my bills but i'm continually screwed by others, like doctors, cops, lawyers, landlords and neighbors and i'm too sick to adequately defend myself ALL BY MYSELF! if i had family and friends they could help me achieve the justice being denied me. i'm nearing 66 years old, suffering from elder neglect and abuse at every turn and NO ONE CARES! even those PAID to help me refuse to help. being alone in this circumstance is something i never even thought of when i was younger. vulnerable people like me are supposed to be protected BY LAW! but if no one will enforce the law there's absolutely NO HELP for us whatsoever.

@raquelgeneve ... i know what you mean. i'll be 66 in 2 months and one thing i learned is its nearly impossible to make new friends after 30. and i mean TRUE friends. and these days all this insane technology isn't helping. this technological police-state was sold to us as a means of connecting us but all it's done is isolate us and make us less trusting and more suspicious of each other. aren't the corporate elite JUST PEACHY KEEN?!
