  1. You can still brake but it will be much harder when the vacuum disappears after a few pumps.

  2. Taijean Moodie Your 03 civic most definitely has powered brakes. Its the same as with all other cars. If the engine shuts off you have a couple pumps worth of assisted braking left.... after that I better hope you spent some time on leg day.
