No .... he is not a hero. He panicked and circumvented the chain-of-command. He knew he would be relieved and now he doesn't have to deal with it anymore. He can go home.

@HeyItzNova You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. None. "Limited combat functionality"? You have no idea of the capabilities of an aircraft carrier and the group that travel with them. What does an aircraft carrier transport? Think about that for a while instead of watching fantasies on Netflix.

@HeyItzNova In the "literal sense" the "ship itself" is the main combat component. It carries all of the aircraft which carry all of the weaponry that are the long range threat. The group supports the aircraft carrier, not the other way around. People make errors, even you, and it is no sin to admit that.
