@FireBeam these people? u mean logical thinking people? Nick is right, any conversion results in losses, breaking water into hydrogen causes losses, its basic physics,you can never get more back than you put in. Its the same reason putting gas in your tank is more efficient than electric cars. we already have the infrastructure and such,and burning fossil fuel to generate electricity and moving it from one place to another is inefficient.

i doubt this would make sense ,since running a engine lean will damage it over time,with burnt valves,detonation under load etc,and that means it can do no useful work(load). you could do the same thing with a carb by adding smaller jets and running it lean,but the same problems will present themselves.

@elkvis I never said it couldn't be done,but engines that run that lean use special inconel valves(same stuff used in top fuel/blown,turbo cars) which are very expensive and not common parts in passenger cars or mower engines. If you want a good example of this look at the lean burning geo metro etc from the 90's ..they manage 47mpg or so but constantly burned exhaust valves..i know i was the machinist fixing them .
