@michaelangelo8001 nice try,i was a Automotive Machinist in those days. Olds engines were fairly reliable but saw many a blown head gasket, cracked heads(repairable), valve train issues with the aluminum rocker stands breaking, and not to mention the olds 403 was a total dud with its open main webs that often cracked rendering the block junk. Pontiac had its share of troubles but were mostly reliable. The oiling problem wasnt much of a problem. the 4100 was a steaming pile of garbage-bad design, but could be fixed and ran well. even the buick 3.8's early on had connecting rod/rod journal problems and went thru many changes, We had a rash of 3.8's breaking camshafts... GM had such a demand for buick 3.8l they let unseasoned green blocks out to customers and as the blocks settled and moved they broke the camshafts.. the fix at the time was install oversize(ID) cam bearings and align bore the blocks.
