  1. After working for sears and other places long ago,my Friend Norm started his own shop out of his small 2 bay garage at home 30 years ago, and today he is now retired a multi-millionaire. His did superb work and treated his customers right. He did not ever advertise other than word of mouth. He was always busy and this is a small town.. Moral of the story Ray, Do your own thing and be happy,you will make it no matter where you are.

  6. Why do we still use dot3 in the USA,it attracts water and is corrosive compared to dot5 silicone fluid. I changed my old 70 chevelle over to dot5 back in the early 90's and never had another stuck caliper piston ever again.

  11. You don't put paste under the coil as it just bolts to the plastic cap,it goes under the HEI module which bolts to the base of the distributor. hopefully that is not a cheap china distributor and cap/rotor,those parts can be total junk.

  14.  @suburban404  I would have to say 1> no motor ball bearings i can think of should need greased once a week(once a year maybe or MFG recommendation). 2> 20 years is still a good long life for a motor. As the guy above posted,it should be done properly.e for a motor. As the guy above posted,it should be done properly. How can you know if you had not greased it it would of lived 20 yrs? no grease in 20 years would of likely meant bearing failure.

  39. Its rare to see a mechanic do this these days,its time consuming and the end results are usually not reliable because of so much metal going thru the engine from the hammered bearings. Most would just replace or rebuild. It does show how dumb some people are(the owner), its much cheaper to maintain an engine than replace it.
