  2.  @NellahWonders  I certainly didn't say that or imply it. Windmills are mostly made in plants run by fossil fuels,the steel,aluminum,copper,etc is likely refined from coal,nuclear and hydro. welded,machined and motors wound in a typical plant-the giant fiberglass blades have a finite life and end up as landfill waste.Huge concrete bases poured with lots of steel reinforcement.. Nuclear is no where near clean,we have piles of radioactive spent wasted buried in mountains etc. Hydro is the cleanest even if you ignore the environmental impact on fish and massive use of concrete(energy intensive in itself) and other things like damming streams etc. cause. As i said above,EVERYTHING has a footprint-i didn't discriminate. So what was your point? I don't think most people consider the energy to manufacture etc.
