During "Time of Troubles" Polish nobility made use out of some random "Russian" making him impersonate the prince Dmitry of Russia that died not long before and waged not official war with Russia. That impersonator was seriously regarded as a rightful heir to the empty Russian throne, was crowned in Moscow and married a Polish noblewoman.. and was killed several days later by angry Russian mob cause he acted in no way as a Russian and in no Russian interests throwing promises how he would make Russia Catholic and properly Polish... No big deal, Poland pulled out the next prince Dmitry's impersonator out of it's ass and waged war against whoever was placeholder for Russian government at the time.. won, but at the time inner political struggle let them to abandon the second impersonator (who was quietly murdered to not become hindrance to Polish royalty's ambitions) and outright put a son of polish king on Russian throne instead, who promised to keep Orthodox Christianity around.. but that didn't lasted cause Polish king himself decided to rule Russia and the first thing to do in his list was to replace Orthodox Christian faith with Catholicism, imprisoning the leader of Orthodox Church while at it... That infuriated Sweedes who were Protestant so they attacked Russia once more this time around to not let it become Catholic. Polish and German mercenaries has burned Moscow for some fucken reason. Russian people become significantly infuriated too, even those oligarchs that previously were not so against Polish rule.. and while all this happened crimean tatars grabbed their chance to pillage, rape and enslave some white people from Russia too. etc. Long story short, the fate that Poland was making for Russia was much MUCH worse than just to become a puppet, nah, it was more a total annihilation of culture, religion while most of population would be eradicated one way or another. That's the precise reason why Russia historically hates Poland and wishes it to die in significant suffering no less than the one that Poland made it go through. Though, it was Polish dumb-fuckery that didn't allow it to properly puppet Russia in the first place.

that's only history of it's death. History of it's life is much more than that even in abridged form. For most of it's history Poland reigned supreme over Eastern Europe while Russia was it's underdog surviving against all odds and Germany for most of the time was group of no name duchies, kingdoms, and such loosely formed around Austria, not even around Prussia that eventually became Germany itself.
