  4.  @tetianapopovych3447  Because at that point the gunfire was already opened by "someone" from the Kiev's hotel (by the way, Ukrainian nationalists with suitcases were seen and photoed entering and exiting such). The investigation on who opened fire was quickly closed off by the new authorities, of course. Yanukovich feared for his life and fled to the most loyal region to him. Guess which one was it? Crimea. And from there he departed into Russia, probably hoping to organise govenrment in exile there (SHould have stayed in Crimea, imho). Russia denied him that and never used him as a justification into interfering into ensuing Ukrainian civil war.
