  17. @TanyaYanchuk-l6b what yours book wrote then? That ancient Ukrainians dug up the Black Sea and built pyramids? No one considered Ukrainians to be a separate nation from Russians before Austria-Hungary started to mess up with western Russian regions (in response to Russians messing up with Austrian southern ones).

  18. @TanyaYanchuk-l6b The idea that they were is outright lying, lmao. Novgororian Republic vote system was pretty much the same, though on the total opposite side of Russia. The whole Rus run as a central authorities that gave up significant autonomy to the edges of the Empire, edges that had privileges of semi self-government in exchange of serving as a shield of the country against numerous enemies. (the practice even surviing nowadays when Chechnya is semi-autonomous state with it's own set of rules that often contradict Russian ones, yet the ones being imposed by local ruling clan upon the locals). Rusification is a natural process of edges of the country being moved further and previously independent sections becoming integral parts of united government. Same happened, for example, with Kazan, a rival to Moscow in uniting the lands, who enjoyed quite a few privileges that got shortened one by one as the border moved on. A natural unification process making every citizen equal. And I would like to point out that a few of core Russian citizens are annoyed at this system that often values Russians BELOW the minorities.

I'd say that Kiev being second Russian capital is pretty significant one.Also, the borders are constantly shifting, just usually not of the countries that could afford to get nuclear weapons. Finally, Ukraine itself as an entity had served Russia for hundreds of year as a semi-autonomous borderlands that constantly moved outwards as the state was increasing in size. A few of Ukraines disappeared that way like Gray Ukraine in the Ural mountains and Yellow Ukraine nearby China. They served their purpose of protecting proper state well and were integrated into mother Russia as they should.
