Inbreeding is measured by gene pools. A person has 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 greatgrandparents, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, etc. Counting the ancestors as individual people. If someone shares one couple of greatgrandparents (parents are cousins) that layer goes from 8 to 6, and generations higher in the tree are reduced accordingly. So it becomes 2, 4, 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, 192, 384, 768, etc.
So instead of 1024 ancestors that person has only 768 in that layer. A 25% inbreed.
If in other generations the same has happened, so 24 becomes 22, result wil be 44, 88, 176, 352, 704.. A gene reduction (inbreeding) of 32%
So count the number of ancestors of King Charles to where it should be 1024 without inbreeding, and be shocked by the result.
