@frankboyd. I've tried that many times and had fleeting "friendships". Then these people move on and I'm left behind again, and I'm a little lonelier than before. After a few decades of this I realised that I am fundamentally broken in some way I can't quite grasp, so I have made a conscious decision to give up trying to have friends. I just have to accept that I'll always be lonely. Better that than being hurt again.
