@cymro6537 English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish should be like brothers to one another. Arguing amongst ourselves will not help our situation. We are all peoples of the British Isles.

People refer to the Maori as "indigenous" to New Zealand, yet they've only been there between 650 and 800 years, they also disappeared the original inhabitants, many of whom were turned into food, apparently. So, I think that we certainly deserve to be called indigenous here.

True. The UN is dominated by groups with a vested interest in damaging and demeaning w peoples everywhere now.

@joelc9439 They replaced them. The original people, according to Maori oral history were physically small. They waged war on them until they no longer existed, eating many of them according to some sources.

Exactly. Mass movements of people around the world destroy diversity, rather than enhancing it.

Our culture goes deep. In our history we have amazing literature, art, music, cinema, design, science, innovation and invention, and architecture, all products of our collective culture.

If anyone can be "British", it becomes a meaningless term. We need to distinguish between actual "Britons" and people who are just "British on paper", ie when it suits.

Yet the Maori are held to be "indigenous" to New Zealand, despite only being there from 650 to 800 years ago and "disappearing" the original inhabitants. On that basis I would say that the English certainly qualify as indigenous to England.

@jimidave6281 Current evidence? There are masses of evidence that the Maori were not there first, borne out by the Maori's own oral history. The fact remains though, they are referred to as indigenous despite being Polynesian that settle there between 650 to 800 years ago. The people that comprise "the English" have been here longer yet are denied indigenous status for political reasons.
