Black King Arthur, brown Sir Gawain, black Friar Tuck, black Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid, black Peter Pan, black Alice in Wonderland, the list goes on and on and on. Why do people think it's OK to steal our heroes, our fiction, our culture, our legends, our myths, our history? Am I the only one that's sick of the hypocrisy, the dual standards, the white erasure, the racism?

These things only ever work one way. It's apparently fine to blackwash historically white characters, to appropriate characters from white fiction, legend and myth, but it's not allowed for white people to do any of those things to other cultures. The dual standards are sickening. It seems that every other group can have their characters, culture, legends and myths but ours is free for anyone else to appropriate. They don't even let white voice actors voice non-white characters in animations, audio dramas and video games now, but plenty of non-white voice actors voice white characters. Recently Big Finish Audio made an audio drama of Halo Jones, one of the most famous British comics characters of the last forty years, a character always drawn and written as a white woman, guess what? Voiced by a black actress. Where's the outrage?
