Children's television in general is riddled with subtle messaging like this. My young son was watching "Paw Patrol", a series aimed at very young children. It features two towns, both of which have female, mayors, Mayor Goodway (hispanic or asian) and Mayor Greatway (black). Almost all the huite male characters are selfish, criminal, incompetent or effeminate. "The Message" is subtle, but it's ALWAYS there.

It's everywhere. Children's television, in particular, is riddled with it.

@HistoryDebunkedsimonwebb If they simply adapted the original stories, they wouldn't be able to push "The Message", would they?
9
That's why it's pushed. Any behaviour that reduces our birthrates is encouraged.
8
It's not a "marketing strategy" so much as a blatant attempt at indoctrinating young people. Any behaviour that reduces our birthrates is encouraged.

If it ws a raffle, you'd be buying up all the tickets, David, that much is clear.
5
@david1964. No jealousy here, it amuses me that this scenario came from YOUR imagination, that speaks volumes. Is the WiFi signal good in your closet?
5
Eric Gill, the sculptor of the "Ariel" statue too, don't forget.
5
Cancel the entire BBC.
4
@david1964. Wrong. The subject today was the BBC promoting relationships like this to young people, not the kissing itself. Try harder.
4
@mindpowermath Oh, I know, believe me.
4
@douglas_gemini It sure is appalling, and it's everywhere, when you look.

Children's television in general is riddled with subtle messaging like this now, it's not just the BBC, sadly. My young son was watching "Paw Patrol", a series aimed at very young children. It features two towns, both of which have female, mayors, Mayor Greatway (hispanic or asian) and Mayor Bestway (black). Almost all the huite male characters are selfish, criminal, incompetent or effeminate. "The Message" is subtle, but it's ALWAYS there.

Same in the UK. Most children featured in ads are mixed too.
3
Someone is pushing an agenda and pushing it hard.
3
Of course, they want to get at the kids, don't they?
3
@brick6347 They aren't big-brained 4d chess playing geniuses, but the people controlling them are. Join the dots.
2
It shouldn't have even been filmed in the first place, never mind been broadcast at any time.
2
@LGreen332 @Lore-rs2rx You have missed the point. The point is not that diversity is represented, but that one particular group is deliberately excluded.
2
Exactly. Children's television programmes are riddled with messaging like this. It's often subtle, almost subliminal, but it's there, all the same.
2
You missed the point, Jan. It's not this particular kiss that we're recoiling from (seeing unattractive people snogging is repulsive, whatever your preferences are), it's the reasons why this is being pushed in a children's programme that are concerning.
1
They're doing that now.
1
Hear hear. While the BBC openly engages in "messaging", propaganda and politically biased programming at odds with the opinions of the general populace, it's totally wrong that we are forced to fund it in order to watch live television from any source.
1
@ShanghaiRooster You're correct, but my point still stands.
1
@wiggywaggo9647 True.
1
@Lore-rs2rx You have missed the point. The point is not that diversity is represented, but that straight white men are deliberately never represented as good role models, creating in the mind of the viewer the impression that being a straight white man is something to be ashamed of and, if possible, avoided. This is especially harmful for white male children, whose confidence will be undermined, causing them problems throughout their lives and damaging society generally.

@LGreen332 I tried to state it more clearly, but yoo-toob deleted my comment. They're excluding (sorry for the spelling) strayt huite men.

@mr.e.8292 The algorithm doesn't treat everyone the same.

It seems from the body language in the various photos of RTD and Ncuti Gatwa in news items about the show that RTD is in love with Ncuti.

@renegadedalek5528 We can hope, but I suspect he's happy with the situation, for now at least.
