  1. To be fair there's really no way anyone would know unless they actively searched for it but most people don't know the terminology anyways. Not like we are ever taught this stuff in school. And most websites do not explain it well and in fact actually imply that it is a flat rate per all your income and not a marginal rate. I'm glad the IRS updated their site though, I'm pretty sure it wasn't explained like that a few years ago when I tried searching to understand it.
