  1. Imagine saying "i'll teach my kids to never rely on health insurance". Why is it any different with social security? They are both insurance policies to protect people incase of bad things happening. Everybody gets old, everybody gets sick. Every house falls down at some point, are you going to say that relying on having your home insured is a bad thing?

  2. Equating Medicare and social security to free pizza every friday is a ridiculous comparison. People don't have to eat pizza to live and if they already paid for the pizza then they better damn well get the pizza! We pay for those programs every week, and rightfully so. That's how insurance works. I'd much rather be paying for my grandma's medical insurance than for bombing some innocent brown person on the other side of the world just to make Raytheon executives another billion dollars. And it's not really a government expense if we all pay for it.
