Monopolies got significantly more consolidated around covid so yes, they were that much more able to boost their profits. I mean, you clearly don't pay attention. They were literally bragging about it for the last 3 years. The media and the fed and everyone else all gave the greedy corporations cover to jack up prices. Corporations admitted on all their earnings calls that they had pricing power and could increase their profits and were doing just that. It's not really that difficult. Just listen to the corporations, the've been bragging about it the whole time.

@tacitus6384 Then who is going to build the roads and bridges? The water mains, sewers, schools, fire departments, police, emergency services etc? Who is going to make sure everyone over 65 doesn't become homeless next time wall street creates a disaster and the stock market tanks 75%? Taxes are a necessary part of having a society and the rich currently pay none which is why we have a shit society.
