  2. Most blankets nowadays are made from polyester (or a poly blend) which will fuel a fire. (Polyester is a petroleum product). I don't know if I personally have anything in my house that is fire-retardant enough to smother a fire. If I can't put it out with water or a wet rag I'm gone.
