Hospitals and doc offices always charge way over the allowed amount because, for one, it's better than undercharging and they know the insurance will only pay a certain amount anyway so it's really no issue for them. And then when someone who doesn't have insurance gets their bill the hospital gets p-p-p-paid. And a lot of hospitals and skilled nursing facilities and even just outsourced billing for docs are owned by private equity firms so of course they are going to just write the highest number they can on any bill they send out.

  3. Medicare Advantage, also known as the Bootstraps Health Plan. Got cancer? Bootstraps. Need a benefit that was promised like dental, vision, hearing or over the counter allowance? Sorry those are contracted out to third parties and they are not working at the moment on account of their 100% incompetence guaranteed policy. In the meantime I recommend buying some bootstraps. Oh and btw we are still going to charge you for the benefits anyways.

  4. When you see how many claims are denied and how many treatments for people are denied every day it becomes a lot less surprising unfortunately. What's that, you got cancer? Treatment for that is not "medically necessary". Medicare advantage is like republican Bootstraps Health Plan.
