  2. That is literally the ultimate form of insider trading. Even better than working at the corporation because you can just write the laws to make that corp money or give it tax cuts or subsidies or write other bills that make competing with that corp more difficult. Politicians should not be able to purchase stocks themselves. They should have to leave that blindly up to a financial advisor (third party, and not be able to know what stocks it contains so as to eliminate bais) or maybe only invest in general index funds like VOO or something.
