There are literally thousands of chemicals like this everywhere everyday. There is no regulation of toxic chemicals in the US. It's literally up to the food/product company to just say "trust me bro, it's prolly okay". The only way something can be taking off the market is if it has been proven for decades to cause cancer in enough people to matter. Our country is a sick mess of profits over people, deregulation and all that matters is wall streets money. I mean we still allow PFAS to be produced and added to our products from pans/floss/clothing/parchment paper etc. Even though we now know those chemicals never break down, cause cancer and stay in the environment forever causing more damage.
