The US dollar would tank, the US federal credit rating would be downgraded raising interest rates and making it more expensive for companies and households to borrow money (which in case you haven't figured it out yet, basically makes the world go 'round in the US). The US dollar is kinda the reserve currency of most of the world and the standard to which most other are held. If that changes it would be monstrously disastrous for the US.
