Wall Street has access to pre and post market trading too so they can sell when you can't and then cause panic, then regular people come in at open and sell and Wall st buys at the lower price and you lose. Some exchanges allow regular people limited trading after hours but i don't think anywhere allows pre-market trading like Wall St gets. And since our retirement accounts 401k's are in the stock market we have no choice but to rely on it going up cause if it goes down when we need money for food, rent, medical bills etc we have to sell thereby pushing the market down further and losing more of our money. The whole system is designed to be unstable cause Wall St loves volatility.
