Republicans didn't vote down the border bill because of it not being extreme enough, they voted it down because they don't want to solve their own problems before the election. If they get what they want now they will have nothing to run on. And I think Biden calling on Trump to help pass it shows that point. (At least it would if right-wing media would tell their audience what is actually in the bill.) And I do think a lot of the polling lately has been to manufacture consent. But Biden ignoring the uncommitted votes is different and horrifying. That's not polling, that's actual people leaving their house or using their lunch break (that's what I did) to vote against his policies.
