  1. We don't celebrate people being gay just for the sake of people being gay. lol We celebrate underdogs and overcoming societal hindrances to human rights. We all love a good superhero story. Just like we celebrate the ending of slavery, the civil rights movement, women's rights/history. We celebrate chrismas as an homage to a dude who supposedly gave his life to make the world a better place. Hell, maybe if we celebrated banning child labor as a holiday republican states wouldn't be so easily able to bring it back. We even celebrate our own birthdays cause ain't nothing more mentally damaging than the experience of being born but we shake if off, learn to walk and then celebrate our own achievement.
