  3. I think these cargo ships weight like millions of pounds at least. I don't think you can just throw an anchor in to stop that sort of momentum. And even if you had some invulnerable anchor and rigging to stop it from just being pulled out of the ship it would certainly damage and possibly sink the whole ship if it stopped the ship that quickly.
