  1. TLDR; Women expect to much, parents of the women expect to much, men simply can't carry all that weight or make enough money so the whole system is crashing. Look, it goes deep there. As obvious women there want and expect a lot more. In china you need an apartment/house before you even can THINK about proposing a women as men. And with the housing crash and before that prices doing up up up up ... a rotten situation. Then you have her, but you don't because parents of a female expect the male to be able to support the wife and potential kid(s). So there has to be an expensive car, and wedding gifts and a sign that a lot of money is there for the coming years. In part, understandable, in reality with the economics in China. It is about impossible for most of the men. Most of the men out of the city and areas where jobs are. If you are in the farming area, forget about it... you have no chance. Being a farmer in china is like being a blue collar in America. Women don't even notice you. So yeah more and more Chinese men see the BS and decide not to anymore. It isn't as if they don't already have to take care of their parents and grandparents...right? Where the hell is the money to do anything... Yes the 4-2-1 system means that most grown ups in china now has have to support 4 or more parents/grandparents. How? With what money? Covid crashing that market and many hardly can feed themselves. China is crashing. It is modern yet old, it has connections to "you have to take care of your parents and grandparents" yet equally due to the one child policy has less and less people actually making the money to keep that system going. Oh and forget about them living with you, after all you have to work so you have to life in a CITY... in a small APPARTMENT. So yeah lying flat it is, "Why don't you have a GF, why don't you have a..." .. why should they care? As much as they can shame the young generation of workers... shame at a point stops working.
