  2. So lets talk hydrogen, you build a charging station close enough outside of town [far enough so an explosion just gives a big BANG and does not damage to surrounding areas, much like why there is always a certain space around the fueling area of a fuel station] Good, you get cars coming in, charge up and then suddenly they have to wait. Why wait? Pressure has to be risen up again as the station has been used enough time that it can't pump hydrogen INTO a car anymore. Not without raisin pressure. No troubles what is 4-5 minutes right? So all that the car before you now has its hydrogen and off it goes. Now you slide in and... 4-5 minutes of pressurization. Also a warning that they are running out of hydrogen and that new hydrogen will be delivered soon enough. Oh but how about in Station hydrogen creation? Yeah but it is a slow process! Which require a lot of power. So compared to a gasoline/diesel situation where cars can just tank and leave a hydrogen station has a few more rules. The first few WILL leave quickly, the rest will have to wait! Inevitable the stations will have to run on a monitoring system that sends out fresh bottles of gas once they notice things go to low for expected behavior. "That is still better then 8 hours normal charging speeds. " Maybe but that can be done at home. As SG N points out, you are not allowed to have a hydrogen generation station at home. But you can have a charging station. Slow charging is super easy with basic wall plugs. And faster charging only requires installing a special station. Look, there is one issue with Hydrogen Gas, it is quite dangerous. It can and does burn easy. This is why tests are down far out in nowhere. If BOOM happens that means the loss of a test station out there. Also the cars itself will have a gas cylinder with quite dangerous gas on board. Batteries can burn horrendous, gasoline can burn too, true but none of them will just explode under you. Even CNG gas requires very special methods to hold. Hydrogen would be worse when it comes to safety. The safest? Gasoline and Diesel. Definitely Diesel as it won't just burn. Gasoline burns easier then Diesel but still requires the right mix of air-fuel. Diesel... diesel needs PRESSURE and HEAT to go boom!
