+Gabriel Soria Yup it reminds me of VTEC too, VTEC isn't made for racing, it is actually made to allow the engine to run more economical. But don't tell that to the boy racers out there who just heard the VTEC kick in ;) If you see a VTEC power curve anybody here understands what I mean. It really is just made to give during low rpm's the most economical running, and also it is pretty weak. This "new" engine thinking is just the same, running the engine leaner in the low side of the RPM/needs to run more economical. And I can't hate it. If it means getting more MPG's I am fine with that.

I wish you luck in europe, where manual transmissions are THE standard and automatics are either a luxury or put on cars for people who have less driving controls.

So in colder areas, think alaska this very optimal running engine system would require pre-heaters. Just to get the engine up to heat before it is efficient enough. Alaska can get very cold. The sahara can get very hot. Heat managment seems to be a hurdle there. But seeing how mazda hasn't lowered its engine sizes instead changed the compression ratios and it works. Certainly it might work in the future to.

Hence why one of those bilgepump electronic "turbo's" is hogwash. Those move very little air. And as turbo's go a turbo first need to overcome to pressure of the incoming air THEN add more pressure to force more air in. As the engine itself already is a huge pump system moving air around.

Question: Lets say that you have a 2L envelope, and you could make a 4 cylinder car. What if you made an 8Cyl 2L engine? How would that work out?

Well, as long as the buyers believe the hype right. It doesn't HAS to be the truth...

Well good to see what kind of improvements we might end up with in 10 years. Because that is how long it usually takes to go down to the cars we all drive.

Trucks are very efficient. If you take in the amount of goods they can move. The problem of course if you talk about the average american they hardly use it to move stuff around. Or do hard work, most truck owners stay stuck with the rest on the highways.

I like the Hybrid Option, electric for within the city, neighborhoods and slow driving. But once you go faster then lets say 25MPH the engine kicks in and you got trustable gasoline. You'll drive silent and smooth in low speed areas, and don't require a whole big battery pack. That and it also means that during the usual in city stop and go traffic should be more efficient.

Makes sense, if you buy sport cars the japanese import at times is faster.

AH yes the KN airfilter, bound to give your Citreon 1L 50 more HP. At least in the mind of some people.

Yes and just how is the acceleration? How is the cornering, I know you like numbers but as you said you noticed that the car drives different on winter tires. Now if you can't measure it, it is hard to show it. But the difference in how driving feels does matters too. My sister doesn't likes wintertyres because they make more sound and drive worse than her summer/all weather tyres. It is interesting to see they are not the "the-do-all" except that in certain areas you really need them.
