  1. Mephistahpheles The problem with deferring is like the problem of expecting a class to share homework. And that the class, all together, are responsible for that the homework is done at least by one person. What if ALL of the defer. Allowing one to defer means that the second person also might defer and the third and fourth. And that can lead that same sex people might have to travel 300 miles to find an area where they find the one person that will marry them. See the problem. Hence why ALL must follow the LAW and NONE can DEFER

  2. Mephistahpheles In the end a CHURCH can deny you the right to mary there if they are a private church with private grounds. And private rules, if it is a church kept in running by a public it ..has to follow public rules. A priest or a pastor can say "Nope not going to marry you two" and that is fine. But a Magister has to, after all you can marry for a priest and not get your marriage license and for the state you wouldn't be married. But.. the state must allow you to marry! As long as it is within its legal bounds.
