Russia is going to be recovering from the sanctions for decades. And I mean decades from the moment that the war ends and the sanctions gradually start being lifted. Russia's economy is in the toilet. Its reputation is destroyed. I don't blame you for leaving and honestly you're smart for doing it while you still had the chance. I wouldn't be surprised if Russia closes its borders so no one can get in OR out especially if more people start trying to leave. Who knows, maybe one day you will be able to go back but for now I'd start thinking about where you wanna live the next chapter of your life. It won't be any time soon that you can return.

He didn't leave over concerns with free speech. He left because for one thing YouTube is probably about to get banned in Russia. But even if it doesn't get banned, any money he makes from YouTube he can't actually cash out. All of Russia's banks are basically inoperable right now because of the sanctions. And Putin literally had just passed a law saying that you were required to have your currency at least 80% rubles which as we all know is in the toilet right now. Rubles are worth less and less and less every single day. It doesn't make economic sense for him to stay in Russia.

@1990chrism I don't recall him saying anything about free speech in the video. He said he's worried YouTube might get banned in Russia, but that's really it as far as free speech is concerned. It's because of the sanctions effecting his ability to make a living in Russia and also realizing that it's going to get worse before it gets better for them over there. I think he dodged a bullet getting out when he did. I wouldn't be shocked if Russia closes its borders to anyone trying to get in OR out.
