As long as lobbying is present and legal, corporate interests will always basically get whatever they want while politicians depending on their level of corruptness “supplement” their government income with untold hundreds of thousands if not millions of extra dollars a year IF they kowtow to corporate and lobbying interests. And many of them, if not most of them, do.
