That they'd actually give you a hood pass and basically like... their approval to be there even though you got a camera and then to get them comfortable enough to be themselves. People don't understand how difficult this kind of journalism is (or dangerous for that matter) but this is quality stuff my dude.

  2. Sadly most people don't learn by listening -- they learn by experiencing. Then they think they can try to prevent the same thing from happening to others by sharing their story, and I mean maybe it is true in some cases, but most people it's lost on them if their heart is set on doing that sort of thing to begin with. That and in poorer communities especially like it's hard to listen to the old man with nothing and look at the "honest folks" that take a bus to their job that pays them nothing at McDonalds and the only ones who have anything are out there living "that life". It's really sad but the lack of role models that are positive is definitely a huge issue for the black community.

  6. San Francisco has been going down this path a long time. It was one of the first cities basically to cow to the drug epidemic, when they had an epidemic of heroin use so bad that they actually made a documentary about it ("Dark Side of the Street", an OLD HBO documentary that covers the lives of a few heroin addicts in the city over the course of a few years -- it's great, if not sad). One of the first cities if not the actual first in America to have a needle exchange program. Needle exchange programs ARE good things, overall, so I am not really criticizing that aspect of things but the flip side of the coin is while it does lower the rates of HIV and Hepatitis spreading, it also gives the perfect place for all the city's various junkies to come and meet. Share dealer contacts, score together, get ripped off together, etc. It's just like everything else in the world, you gotta take the bad with the good.

Significantly harder to take the old dude's opinion seriously when he's got a hentai T-shirt on depicting a crocodile having some very good looking sexual relations with an anime character with the caption reading "You next bitch". LOL It's so faded he might have gotten it out of a garbage can or something but I honestly wanna know which garbage can that was because that is a grade A classless but amazing T-shirt.

  10. No, that is not where they're getting the fentanyl. I won't tell you where either in case other people go out and get it but it's not coming from hospitals the truth is actually far different and more scary than that is. No, it's not coming from hospitals.
