  1. Robin Hood whether real or not has almost taken on a historical legacy not too different from a patron Saint or whatever. Even if he never existed, perhaps other people especially criminals have learned a thing or two from his story. If for nothing else, the best way to gain public support and sympathy is to spread the wealth. Less likely that they'll hate you and work with the authorities on removing you. Pablo Escobar knew this, Chapo Guzman and basically every other drug lord in modern memory knew this. Take from the rich, in the cartels' case the Americans, and give to the poor.
