You deserve credit as well for your own role in this guy going down. It was a joint effort basically that involved not just you and people like you working to expose these people but various branches of law enforcement as well. I wouldn't be surprised if in an alternative reality where you didn't do the work that you did, he'd likely still be out and about working his criminal magic. At the very least you raised awareness and helped to expose him, saving unknown numbers of potential victims and who knows how much money in potential losses.

He should've fled to a country that doesn't extradite to the US. In fact, he probably did try that. I am glad he didn't or otherwise didn't succeed, but yeah when you're dealing in the kinds of crimes he was dealing in it's not just a local police issue anymore, that's when the feds get involved. AKA the FBI.
