  1. It goes back to Katie's mother, Alyssa, and Alyssa's parents as well. Alyssa met this 20+ year old man online at the age of 15 and two years later she is having his baby. They could have prevented all of this had they just forbidden her to see him at all.

  2.  @LadyIarConnacht  Uhhh... those people are in the minority. Are you fucking kidding me? Sure, 15 year olds run away sometimes. They statistically usually come home within 48 hours because they realize life on the outside sucks harder than it ever did living on the inside with their parents, even in spite of the "rules". It's not like she can legally get married to the older guy whether she runs away or not. The second example you provided though, holy fuck. KILL their parents? Are you serious? You watch too much of this shit if you think that's a common bottom line for someone if their parents forbid a relationship. Generally speaking if they're around that age and the parents forbid the relationship the relationship is dead in the water. They may see each other off and on in secret, but it's not common for the kid to murder their entire family as a result of it. That's just ridiculous.
