@susieturk1 Buy a shotgun or something on the way out there. Whether you agree with guns or not, like the more "off the grid" you get the more necessary it becomes. I am sure response times by police in the event of emergencies are not great in the middle of nowhere but there are other benefits to living out there that may outweigh some of the cons depending on who you're asking

@theshocker4626 The nature of warfare has changed drastically since the US seemingly put all it's bets on aircraft carriers, etc. We have more of them than the developed world combined and we're building even more as we speak, and yet in the last few years we have China arguably engaging in biological warfare with the Coronavirus (and we've been engaged in a trade/cold war with them for years on top of that) and then we have the Russians who are "turning a blind eye" to rogue hacker groups who use ransomware to shut down critical US infrastructure, with them shutting down a fuel pipeline earlier this year and a meat processing plant as well. In theory they can take down the electrical grid using similar tactics. And not a single gun, bomb or whatever used in traditional warfare will be useful in that regard. Not to mention what the terrorists figured out in tricking us into blowing all of this time and money on a losing engagement, as if we had forgotten the lessons of Vietnam in the meantime.
