If their original plan actually worked, Columbine would still be the worst school shooting in history. It might even be more deadly than the worst shooting in American history, in general. The original plan was to bomb the cafeteria which would have caused the ceiling above it to collapse in on all of the students (where the library is, which coincidentally is where the rampage ended and where most of the victims were ultimately killed). The bomb itself would've killed a lot of kids, the ceiling falling down on them would've killed even more (not to mention the kids in the library above itself) and then their plan was to pick off the stragglers as they started pouring out of the school. The bombs, thank God, didn't work. All but one of them failed if I am remembering correctly, and it was in a place where there weren't that many people. I forget the motive behind putting one where most kids weren't going to be I think it was a decoy or something to that effect. It was already bad enough and it's the definition of a tragic event, but we're talking the difference between dozens killed and injured and literally hundreds. It wasn't until they realized that the bomb failed that they went to Plan B and moved inside of the school instead.

@genlongtsang1093 That's what I am referencing. Virginia Tech stands as the worst school shooting in US history (by numbers). The Las Vegas shooting is the worst shooting in US history, in general. Again, by numbers. Orlando Pulse Club was bad, but nowhere near as bad as the LV shooting. My point is, if the bombs worked in the cafeteria we'd be talking about hundreds dead, not dozens. Does that make sense?

@genlongtsang1093 The reason for that is Columbine, although not the "first" school shooting was the one that really started the ball rolling. It was certainly the first one at least in a LONG time to get a lot of bodies, to come out of nowhere, and it also coincided with an era where people were already sort of beginning to become at odds with popular culture. Music? Check. Video games? Check. "Bullying"? Check. And I say "Bullying" in quotes because it first was attributed to them being picked on in school when in fact they kind of weren't. Not really, anyway. There were a lot of reasons that one captured the imagination of America and the world at large but the truth is it's what woke up the "Dragon". And honestly not since then have we ever seen such a concerted attempt at doing it. And like I said, if their original plan worked, it'd still be the most deadly school shooting in history. That was their plan. Thankfully it didn't work. But there's information surrounding it in the basement tapes that explain their motivations and it seems to be different for both of them. Eric just hated people. Dylan was depressed. That sort of thing. Oh also the surveillance tapes and whatnot, the terroristic gear they wore, all of it I think contributed to the beginning of the "shooter" era in ways that other shootings prior to it didn't.
