  1. If having a child isn't enough to make you quit using drugs then I think the biggest tragedy of all is that nature allowed you to have them. To bring a child into the world is a big thing in itself, but to bring one who had no choice but to be addicted and then subsequently withdraw from drugs or even be born with other deficiencies because you couldn't help but keep using? Like, that puts you in that stereotypical junkie sub-category that makes everyone think they're all just a bunch of no good thieves and fucking vagrants. The only reason they think that is because these are the stories they're more likely to hear. The bad ones. About how the junkie who needed a fix stole your computer, you never hear about the junkies who keep normal jobs and you'd maybe otherwise never know the difference.

  2. People are shooting heroin and other drugs more than ever before. Most likely it was just tossed recklessly by a neighborhood junkie not thinking about it. You find more needles around places that are more sympathetic to the needle. Not surprised this was where it was, but really man if you used needle drugs find a way to dispose of the shit more responsibly. Kid might find that and get fucking hep c or hiv or something.
