  1. It's one of those things like he's not just a good looking guy but he's an incredibly talented actor, too. I am not too familiar with actual like David Koresh recordings or whatever but IMO he absolutely nails the charismatic aspect of what these religious like borderline televangelists are all about. I know the show was criticized because it showed him in a more sympathetic light, I disagree with that because I think it showed him at his absolute most manipulative worst and we just interpreted it as sympathy for the character. If you pay attention it shows how he was able to sink his teeth into these people so well, and during times of peace he's not just able to keep them but also to attract more as well. I do think if they were left alone they'd likely still be there to this day, but essentially what the guy was doing was creating slaves out of them and for the most part he was doing it entirely legally. That's probably the main reason they chose Texas as their base of operations.
