Satanists honestly just like to get a rise out of people. That is their entire point. Satanism (or what most people describing Satanism in the modern context anyway) isn't even really a religion. It isn't about belief in a higher power, it's about believing in and worshiping yourself. It's basically more of a philosophy than a religion that emphasizes what is basically selfishness over everything else. Anyway, the idea they'd use this monstrous figure or whatever (the Baphomet, apparently) is less about them putting reverence into their own deity it's about making as many people angry as possible. They do not believe in the devil. People that actually, literally worship Satan are actually Luciferian, not Satanic.
