This is arguably more important than what Nixon did with China back in the 70s. The path that led North Korea to where they are now began a long time ago, before Kim Jong Un was born. And it was getting to the point that our options in dealing with them were growing smaller and smaller, as well as more and more dangerous as time went on. And before Trump of all presidents floated the idea of actually sitting down and talking to them, nobody in their right minds ever imagined that a diplomatic, peaceful solution to this problem would ever even be possible, with many thinking North Korea was the mad dog backed into the corner with weapons they developed expressly for the purpose of having a nuclear option like everyone else when being dealt with. Trump is basically giving them a golden shiny ticket out of their status as the "Hermit Kingdom" and giving them the opportunity to essentially start over. Human rights in North Korea though are something that should also be addressed, but the main thing is we need to talk them out of the nukes by showing them that we can be friends without them. Trump may get the Nobel peace prize -- or maybe even Kim Jong Un himself -- if the deal goes through.
