We're already reflecting the downfall of Rome in a major way, especially the way that entertainment has more and more become a staple of our lives. We love movies and TV shows, we idolize stars, and The Learning Channel has shows like "Honey Boo Boo" on it because it gets better ratings. Not to mention our obsession with sports. In Roman times this was called the "bread and circuses" era. They kept the people placid with entertainment, basically, while they became more and more corrupt and did their evil deeds in broad daylight while the people were too distracted to notice.

Yeah, VICE is getting a little too much on the biased/liberal side. I get they're more liberal leaning than not, but seriously, the humanistic aspect of that argument is scary because it actually tugs on the heartstrings and WORKS in it's ability to convince people. It's JUST a border, what's a border over human lives? That's essentially what is being said. But yeah, the border and the fence exists for a REASON, and it has very little to do with we don't like your country or it's people. Immigration creates a shitstorm of logistical problems in the country they're trying to go to, but the bleeding hearts will forever not care about that, their complacence literally ruining things for the rest of us who DO care.

The Taliban (which incidentally the word Taliban means "students" from what I understand in Arabic) understood that to defeat America in warfare you didn't have to BEAT the Americans so much as you simply had to not lose against them. Their strategy from the very beginning was one of attrition and patience.

@hmmnope9231 It's only getting more and more relevant with time, though. Besides, the US is currently on a supercharged track of the rise then downfall of a civilization like Rome. It's happening more or less the same timing spacing wise, but Rome was a major civilization for hundreds if not thousands of years -- America isn't even 250 years old yet. It's also different from the standpoint that it's less of a "one country economy" and more of a globalized one in the modern world. But yeah as far as the collapse of values and morality in society on top of our obsession with entertainment over important issues (while our elected officials operate corruptly basically in the open because nobody cares or notices that they're doing corrupt things to begin with). It's not a 1 for 1 exact recreation of the downfall of Rome but it's more similar than it is not.

2020 is going to be the year we remember where everything truly changed for the United States of America. Around 1994 is when I think you can really start to begin seeing the shift in policing from typical like "Boys in blue; the old protect and serve" to actually resembling something more akin to a military power. The militarization of the police, to me, directly contradicts what public service members should look like in what's supposed to be a free and democratic society. What will we look like in 20 more years? It's terrifying to think about.

It follows that an organization that revolves around hatred would actually lead to if not outright encourage acts of hatred. Whatever you focus on, your mind will manifest it in actuality. So if you are in any of these hate groups or groups that at least spend a majority of their time hating something or another, then don't be shocked when you find you're completely miserable. Consumed by the toxicity of hatred.

Kel's the only one with class out of the two of them. Kenan went Hollywood as soon as he got accepted on Saturday Night Live (which he got late in his career and it's probably, sadly, the "highlight of his career") and it's probably the last job he'll ever have in show business when he is let go inevitably after a few more years. The problem with Kenan going Hollywood is he doesn't even have the raw talent to back it up anymore. He's just a douchebag and IMO he HAS ruined the show or at least he's one part of many on that team who have ruined it.

The scariest part of this story is the fact that they slowed down and scoped you out first before making that corner and ultimately shooting at someone else. And that it was nighttime. If it was some other shooter you may have gotten shot as well "just in case" you were the target. They don't care who they hit apparently, even children are getting caught in the crossfire in some cases, that's the saddest part of all to me. It really is a warzone there.

The other problem with mobile homes and trailer parks is a lot of them only allow people to stay for a set amount of time, like 5 years and then they ultimately have to rebuild the trailer home. Long term living in a trailer park is a recipe for disaster in itself, that's a place to go stay a while and catch your breath, not hunker down and start popping out kids out that you can't afford. Of course nobody winds up in a trailer home as a result of GOOD decisions they made.

@tagheuerwoods6241 Exactly it's not that simple in reality, people who aren't renting and who actually bought their houses are in the worst predicament of all because ... in order to move, generally speaking, one must first sell their property. The truth of the matter is people in that boat CAN'T move because nobody in their right mind is going to buy a house in the neighborhoods people are going to be the most desperate to escape in the first place. That's what you call the definition of "stuck".

VICE is clearly running a program that is tattoo-friendly, hipster-friendly, cigarette, drugs and alcohol friendly... like it's just the coolest damn News network there is. They allow cursing, etc. It just makes their work (when they're at their best) more appealing to people I think. More refreshing than getting watered down, PG-rated news broadcasting with totally white bread and/or Uncle Tom newscasters and commercials in between. No, VICE says forget the traditional method, we're going to give people something more hard hitting and real. Unfortunately the more commercial VICE gets the more I distrust them.

Yeah the Taliban this entire time was simply just waiting. They learned by observing what happened in Vietnam, to defeat America you don't have to win the war -- you simply just have to not lose it. Their strategy was patience from beginning to end and even they are like "Wait so they just trained all these soldiers for us over the years (they're all going to the Taliban now or will be executed, you have to understand this) and THEN they left the gear behind for us, too? Seriously?" We should have destroyed all of the equipment, logistical networks and bases before leaving. The idea we have trained all these people then left behind all of the weapons and equipment we did to me is beyond debacle levels. We will be attacked by them again, it's just a matter of time, but the difference is we didn't just leave that equipment behind we left a trained paramilitary force to use it as well.

I wouldn't do that as an elderly person OR a female. That's something hipster kids do when they're in their 20's and 30's but I guarantee you'll get sick of it very, very fast. It looks fun and adventurous and "kewl" on YouTube but you're only seeing the good parts, not the bad. If you do decide to go this route, get a gun. You're gonna need it.

The cartels are not only better funded, they're frequently better trained than the military itself. In Los Zetas case, they actually formed that cartel with specialized military tactics in mind. Many of them were former Special Forces in Mexico, etc. They quit working for the government when they realized they could use all their training and expertise to make a shitload more money than they ever could by entering the drug trade. But yeah they're talking about how they're out there shooting helicopters down with RPGs, the government is scared out of their minds when it comes to these cartels and don't know what to do. So they pick the lesser of two evils to fight the "bigger" evil, not realizing that you take one group and their leader down and like five more pop up. The only way to end it is to legalize all drugs. I am serious. As controversial as it sounds, it's the only way this ends.

@stephenthomas8648 What about Louisiana? It's decriminalized in New Orleans for instance up to 14 grams IIRC and beyond that most cops that I know couldn't care less. I mean, I am white so that probably has a lot to do with my opinion/experience but no they're more worried about the guys driving from the East all the way through Metairie to Kenner with heroin and cocaine than they are about some people in town smoking weed. They probably run into more problems with people who drink than they do with people who smoke.

They come out of the military with military experience thinking we're the bad guy. And maybe that's for good reason. So they figure well we can use these skills now to fight back against the very people that trained them in the first place. That's literally what happens when it comes to these extremists.

It's just sad that California is one of the most taxed if not the most taxed states to live in, and they still have problems like this. Where is the money going? But that's basically the natural response for people who have the money and resources to do it in the first place, if you aren't getting your needs served by the services you pay taxes for, you have to supplement it with private service instead. I think it's gonna run into problems not just from a liability standpoint (like if the private ones get in the other guys way or vice versa) but there's almost more of an impetus for the firefighters to successfully extinguish the fire if they're being paid by an individual personally and to protect only the one property. But realistically speaking, they're probably going to have more than one client in a given threatened area. There's no way they'll be able to save them all. Unless it's stipulated in the contract that having us as private firefighters isn't even necessarily a guarantee, either, what we can guarantee is all our resources will be dedicated to protecting you, your family, and your home though. But even still there's gonna likely be some lawsuits.

@thacrypt223 I had to read that in high school. I forget what it's about specifically but it's sort of a coming of age story about a young boy growing up in Afghanistan, and it sort of shows what it was like before the Taliban, during the Taliban, and I believe even some parts that covered the occupation but it came out in the early 2000's so it's mostly just an accounting of what it was like living under Taliban rule from the standpoint of a young boy and it follows him through his life all the way to like moving to America and slowly beginning to not sympathize with the terrorists but to understand why they may not like America because at the time especially after 9/11, people were looking at Muslims in particular with suspicion and even antagonism in a lot of cases.

Yeah it reminds me of that movie called "Shot Caller" and the miniseries which is absolutely brilliant (watch it if you haven't seen it, it's called "The Night Of") where basically it shows what happens to good people when they get locked up. You go in thinking you're going to just quietly do your time, then realize it's impossible unless you bulk up and join a gang basically. Wolves or sheep. You figure out which one you are when incarcerated, but the worst thing about it is they call prison a "correctional facility" when the reality is it doesn't correct anything. It makes BETTER criminals from every standpoint imaginable.

The reason they're giving away the drugs for free is less to do with the "public service" aspect of it and more designed to be something they can point to if they ever get arrested for doing this. It's harder to justify convicting someone for "drug trafficking" if they're literally receiving no money for it. That isn't a sale, that's a gift.

@lindalewis8503 I can see living out of an RV but not a van. Even the most spacious van setup I've seen still looks claustrophobic to me and then there's the imminent thread of flash flooding and tornadoes, or even not-so-imminent threats like hurricanes. Houses have a better chance of surviving all of those natural events. Trailers and vans and even RV's are pretty well going to get totaled/destroyed in really bad weather.

@SignedOff402 Be safe whatever you do and never underestimate mother nature. Every storm is different especially when it comes to hurricanes, last storm I endured was Ida and the total blackout of New Orleans after the hurricane winds were so severe it knocked down an electrical tower that wasn't even knocked down during KATRINA. I would try to find a parking garage large enough to accomodate it but if you can't, do get a room. I am just afraid it won't be able to survive hurricane force winds even though it is a large, heavy vehicle like that.

Idolizing stars, being obsessed with sports and sports stars, loving movies and TV shows and things that on a level of actually mattering do not matter at all, IS a sign of the downfall of America like Rome. So if your statement is that it isn't true that doing all of the above isn't a sign of America's downfall, then I agree with you, because if you take the negatives out of both of those statements then you are saying that it IS a sign of America's downfall. Particularly on a cultural level. It IS true that these things are indicative of the downfall of America like Rome (your statement without the dual negatives in "Not True" and "Isn't"). We don't even make our own medicine anymore. China is responsible for making something like 90% of the world's medicine, and here we are on the doorstep of going to war with them if we don't just let them have their way, invade Taiwan and threaten Japan and Australia with nuclear weapons the way they are. Oh well, as long as we're "entertained" to death, right?

@jponz85 It really does depend on where in Asia honestly. If they came from China and they're whining about life in the US ... the US is still vastly superior to "Asia" in that case. If it's South Korea, well, that is slightly different. If it's Japan, again, slightly different. Now the reality of the fact is I would be scared to live in Japan OR South Korea right now with all the issues bubbling up in that region and it's China's fault. The entire world, but especially countries in Asia, will be upended when China invades Taiwan. Not if, but WHEN China invades Taiwan. In fact, China has even gone out and publicly stated to Japan that they will nuke them continuously if they send so much as even one man to assist Taiwan in this matter. You can look it up, too.

@Tim85-y2q They're still trailer homes though. They're still most vulnerable to natural disasters, even mild natural disasters like flash flooding all the way up to tornadoes and hurricanes. I don't care how many modern comfort modifications they make to these residences to help differentiate them from normal homes. At the end of the day, they're still mobile homes. They're good, cheap options for temporary use, but you can't sit there with a straight face and tell me that owning a mobile home is synonymous with owning a brick and mortar home that sits on a proper foundation and is designed to last the test of time and not until you get through medical school or whatever your temporary hardships and challenges are that would land you in a mobile home to begin with. For a few years. They will never be on par with traditional homes, I don't care how many amenities and bells and whistles you throw on top of it to try to hide the fact that it is what it truly is.

If they didn't want to move the weapons back over the pond again at the end, they should have destroyed them. I don't know for the life of me why they didn't. My guess is that would have invalidated the deal with the Taliban who we are suddenly cowering to for whatever reason.

@oscar2500 There's a difference between being early for something like Bitcoin and having a genuine gambling problem. People with a gambling problem are actually playing games of chance, not observing futures the way that people dealing in crypto do. Gambling = chance. Futures = skill, with a little bit of luck but not nearly as much as roulette or craps for instance.

Yeah, people, just stop using drugs. Kick that heroin habit today. People have been using intoxicating substances, regardless of their legal status, since the dawn of the time when man knew what intoxicating substances were. Most likely something like cannabis or mushrooms or like... peyote or something naturally occurring would be the first and this idea that people will ever stop is completely and totally false. What they need to do is at the very, very least DECRIMINALIZE all drugs. If not just outright make them legal. I don't think they should be easy nor impossible to get for people who want them. This will eliminate the process of spiking drugs, it will reduce if not remove the overdose and disease transmission factor, it will allow the price to normalize because right now these cartels are making billions and billions of dollars off of something that is artificially expensive because it's illegal. These drug gangs would cease to exist, or would end up moving to more traditional crimes like burglary or extortion or that sort of thing, but the drug war itself would end overnight. These gangs are still going to be incredibly rich from the money they've already made, but one way or another a lot of it will end up trickling back anyway. The bottom line point is, though, the drug war itself must end before this sort of thing will end.

I wouldn't and don't support Uber right now for one reason only. Uber does not require background checks. Cab companies do. You never know if you're getting some guy who's been in jail a few times etc. You do not know. A lot of people can't find work if they're ex-cons especially and are turning to things like Uber and other things that won't even ask them if they've ever been incarcerated. Just saying. I don't support Uber, never have and never will. Support local cabbies. It's a lot harder to become one and they'll not only arrive faster usually they're also way more guaranteed to be professional than some random Uber driver could ever claim to be.

+Angel Reyes They're making another season, but I honestly don't know how they're intending to pull that one off. They're already basically at about the very end of the story for Pablo, unless it's all about him being on the run from now on -- however, I predict the show won't end with his death. I bet it explores the other cartels more next season and his death will probably occur in Season 3. Just my theory. :P

Al Ken made good points all around but I think that the similarities of heroin and alcohol are apples and oranges at least insofar as society goes. First off, way more people use alcohol and most of them are not alcoholics. It's a casual thing that many people can control whereas some people with addictive personalities may not be able to control it. But the simple fact is there are more functioning people who use alcohol, and more people who use alcohol in general, than people who have ever tried Heroin anyway. Heroin just the word itself carries one of the worst stigmas of any drug besides maybe meth nowadays and even coke. The sort of stuff most people just stay away from. As far as the damage potential though yes I believe that more people have died from alcohol but that is largely in part because it's legal and it's more accessible than street drugs. If Heroin was legal I think it would either result in more deaths or (statistically speaking anyway) it may even result in less deaths ironically enough. Portugal is the crown jewel of an example of this, it lowers death rates as well as the rates of infectious disease spreading (something that many people who get into IV drugs discount the risks of, forget the substances they're taking, how about AIDS if you share needles or more common than that Hep-C?) but really yeah in my own opinion I do think alcohol is more harmful than opiates are. By far. But it's largely a question of availability in that case.

Honestly like if you live in a place even like that and let it get run down so much that it looks like a shanty shack, just be homeless. It's cheaper. I don't see anything wrong with the dude cleaning the place up for people who appreciate it. If people just wanna let it and themselves go, like honestly San Francisco is unbelievably homeless friendly in the same state. Go live there instead, for less money, and you can live as "free spirited" as you want with zero consequences instead. People act like they're paying more money for no benefits. Are you kidding me? He's making the entire place look nicer, he's hiring all these people to come do these jobs at no additional cost to the people living there whether they're on the way out or destined to stay, and hiring private security which they claim is for the workers benefit only but it's just as much for the people too if they could only allow themselves to see it that way. The ones complaining about altercations are most likely the ones who let their homes fall to ruin which affects everyone else negatively then they have the balls and audacity to say they were negatively effected by what literally are simply just improvements.

People give places like New Orleans grief because they built the entire city below sea level in a place that has to worry about hurricanes half of the year, basically. Pick your poison. You got wildfires and earthquakes in the west, tornadoes in the center of the country and hurricanes in the gulf and on the east coast.

I've seen it. xD And yeah that one was pretty great. There's quite a few they've done on international cannibals IIRC. I've seen a large number of things they've done since I first discovered them on the ... relatively bad quality footage with the guy who started Vice, Shaun Smith, basically finding a way into North Korea and actually managing to smuggle footage. That took serious, serious balls to do. If they had caught him doing that... we may not even have VICE as we do have it today. That's kind of what I mean about the trajectory they seem to be going. It really IS beginning to show some serious left-leaning bullshit, and you know who I blame for that? Bill Maher. He's simultaneously the reason we got VICE News in the capacity we now have it on HBO, but also the reason it's gotten so... much more biased in the favor of the left. I agree with every word of what you said.

The fact they didn't points to guilt, OR they figure it's not worth the bad publicity to pursue otherwise but I am leaning more towards the first than the second in this case. That and the fact it seems to be something other students have had to deal with.

Not related to insulin necessarily but he was having to go to Mexico to get a particular drug to treat HIV/AIDS that was either trial-only in America or something was preventing him from getting it. And from that he basically set up a counter-culture pharmacy for these people to come get the treatments THEY want regardless of what the normal/typical path of acquiring those treatments typically were. Through a doctor. Waiting in a line. Signing up for various lists, etc.

I do think they are a little leftist, yes, but compared to MSNBC and CNN, Vice is EXTREMELY fair. It's not perfect, no, and humans will always have some bias, but I do think they try to approach each issue with as much fairness as they possibly can.

They took him down, and like 4 more popped back up, and it's been growing ever since. The show is called "Narcos" after al, not "Narco" ;) No matter what the show is phenomenal, I wanna see them keep going with it.

It was nice that Kumar (lol) gave a fair representation of Mississippi (I am from there originally) but I can't help but disagree with the notion that it was an entirely collaborative effort between whites and blacks in rebuilding the state. Remember, now, MS was the state that they had to call the National Guard in because blacks were finally beginning to be allowed to go to school at Ole Miss (the University of Mississippi) by forced integration. They resisted Civil Rights as much as, maybe even more than, any other state that was also forcibly being integrated. My Mom attended college there a few years after that happened, not sure what her experience was as far as racism is concerned, but even when I was growing up blacks and whites sort of just kind of seemed to avoid each other FOR THE MOST PART but classes and everything were all integrated. It was just a cultural difference. Whites and blacks were occasionally friends but that was the exception, not the rule. That's not to say that anyone there is truly racist in the sense that they truly hate each other (if anything the blacks are just as racist as the whites are in MS) but there's a lot of middle class white boys who emulate their fathers and grandfathers and still complain from time to time about black people. I would never associate with anybody like that, though, and most people I knew were the same way.

The SWAT team shouldn't be something local municipalities can create on their own, it should be something that's an extension of the National Guard, period. The idea that they're serving warrants with the freaking SWAT team is not something we should be cool with. Available at a moment's notice, sure, but for school shootings and for riots and things of that nature. For going to serve a guy for suspected drug dealing or something? Eh... Not so much. Unless they have a reasonable suspicion that the suspect wouldn't go down without a fight (most go down without a fight). Like a history of violence, things of that nature. If we allow the use of military police to become a normalcy in this country (talking about the USA, of course) then we may as well just embrace fascism full on, cause it's already here. This should not be normalized.

Reminds me of the politician from Narcos who was ultimately assassinated in the end, but yeah the bravest people in the world might be politicians who resist the "easy" route when it comes to Cartels. "We'll line your pockets but first you must do some things for us" and it is in this way the Cartel's are MORE powerful than the government. They are better funded, better equipped, and ruthless enough to do whatever they feel is necessary if someone isn't playing ball enough or whatever so to speak in their eyes.

I got out just as fentanyl was about to hit the streets. I didn't plan it that way it just happened that way. Basically after Purdue was forced to change the formula for Oxy around 2009 or 2010, OxyContin was suddenly impossible to get so most people switched to heroin, got on maintenance therapy or quit. But most people switched to heroin. I ran out of money and I never was someone who could rob people to support my habit, so I kicked the habit just as fentanyl was about to start peeking its ugly head out from the underworld. If I didn't, I would probably be dead now.

Biden's public statements regarding all of this, while I agree with just about everything he said to a certain extent, just might cost him the presidency in 2024. It's going to really hurt in 2022 when mid-term elections happen. It's already been labeled as him just pointing the blame at everyone but himself which isn't entirely true but he did throw the afghan military and every president before him under the bus pretty fast.

I agree that he's probably just doing it primarily out of grief. I think he likes the idea of this superhero character he's created, and he has all the guns and everything to make the images look scary. But the idea that he's actually going around and kicking doors down? First off, the dealers have guns too and I hope he knows that. They wouldn't think twice about shooting him in the same way he might think twice about shooting them. And doing that in the northeast? I am not sure 100% but I do know Pennsylvania is right next to New Jersey and NJ has some of the least friendly gun laws in the union and to actually like use them even in self defense in some cases is liable to get YOU in trouble. Which to me is ridiculous. But honestly believe it or not the heroin dealers could shoot him, just gotta make sure to do it with one of the few legal guns they have laying around. If people actually thought nation building and the pursuit of Democracy in a place like Afghanistan would actually work, they do not understand the region or its people and this was bound to happen one day, one way or another, whether it was today, five years ago or five years from now. The outcome would ALWAYS have been the same. They do not want us there. They never have. At best they just sort of allowed it, and in the military's case they were like "Sure, give us all this world class equipment (then leave it 20 years from now when you abandon us). Give us all this world class training. Give us everything you have under the pretense that once you leave we'll pick up where you left off" but here is the kicker -- they never intended to do that. In fact I would go as far as saying the Taliban was encouraging people to join this new "Afghan military program" so that way they can receive the benefit of all the training and tactics. TL;DR -- we have literally just trained the Taliban to fight like us and we've left behind all kinds of toys and equipment they actually know how to use now. It's genius. We lost the war, we lost trillions of dollars, and we just trained our enemy to fight us down the road. Like honestly they are laughing their asses off at us right now and for good reason. Anyone who actually ever thought this would work is dreaming. And a bonus note, I can't stand Donald Trump but even he had the wherewithal to realize that it's better to destroy the stuff we left behind if it's too expensive to move it. If the Taliban was a threat before, they're a super threat now because they have the benefit of our training now as well. The scariest thing of all to me right now is that while Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are allies and they will certainly be splitting up the loot (trading and selling it, etc) but ISIS on the other hand cannot stand the Taliban OR Americans. We have a deal with the Taliban right now as long as we're out by September 1st, nothing will happen. What happens when ISIS decides to throw a wrench into that entire operation by perpetrating a terror attack on the thousands of people clamoring at the airport to get out? Not only will it lead to bloodshed and confusion on all sides, we might lose Americans or American service members in the process, but it will delay the evacuation and cause other problems. Will they honor an extension because we had to deal with a terrorist attack? Probably not. ISIS is not going to let the opportunity slide. It might be suicide bombings or they may simply take guns and start shooting civilians and service members alike. That on top of the fact we reportedly have already been threatened that such an attack may very well just happen.

Nothing criminal will happen to Trump. Regardless of what happens or what he does. I also disagree with the notion that it sets a precedent that no indictments will basically mean that any future president might be more inclined to give in to his worst instincts and/or commit crimes, abusing the power of their office. The problem with that is that precedent has already been set. First with Nixon then with Clinton, basically, but mainly Nixon. And what happened with Nixon? Nothing because he resigned before they could ever charge him with anything and had the Vice President turned President Ford PARDON HIM for any and all crimes he had ever committed. Dollars to donuts Trump is going to do the same thing. If it becomes clear that the writing is well and truly on the wall for him, he'll just resign and Mike Pence will pull the same move, pardoning him for everything and then what I expect him to do is at the very least start his own news network, considering he and Fox News basically broke up after this last election, if he doesn't take it a step even further and literally start his own political party. This would be bad news for Republicans if he did this, considering he is so divisive there's even a subset of the Republican Party that want him gone, too. Like the Murdochs, apparently (the family that owns Fox News).

The fact is, climate change is real. It just is. The thing nobody seems to be able to agree on is WHY it's happening. Some people believe carbon emissions directly contribute to it, others don't believe it does at all. Other people believe that it is a natural cycle and it's gotten warmer and colder over the millennia a few times now. The truth, like everything, is somewhere in the middle of those two honestly.

Honestly if you live in California and haven't moved yet it's probably too late. California is not just literally but also metaphorically burning before our very eyes. The homeless problem is another issue altogether. Homeless people mean crime rates increase and property values diminish. You can't even walk through most parks in the most liberal cities in California without coming across dozens of little homeless communities, and like a trail of breadcrumbs you can frequently find them by following the trails of needles left haphazardly out in the open for anyone including your kids or yourself to accidentally step on. For all the net positives California offers, among which are beautiful weather AND climate, everything else especially on the human side and the management side is unbelievably bad. All this on top of some of the highest, if not the actual highest, taxes in the entire country.

The real problem is they joined the military thinking they're fighting for their country. Some of them believe with their entire hearts in the oath they swore to the constitution. They went over there to fight a war and have no problem fighting one here too. In fact, they're better trained and better prepared to do so than a lot of people over here are. 1% of the American population are military. I believe China manufactured the coronavirus as a result of the trade war. They're like "You wanna hit us in the wallet where it hurts? Well, we can play that game too." so they conspired with the WHO, infected their own people after developing the vaccine for it themselves, and waited until the Chinese new year for people to travel on a massive scale (this was in February or so of 2020) and only THEN did it get declared a pandemic about a month later, leaving the West to figure it out and fend for themselves. They've been dealing with SARS-type viruses for a long time, it was all new territory for us and it has cost untold amounts of money ... meanwhile China's basically already re-opening. If it wasn't an act of war, it could not have worked out more in their favor.

Overdosing is scary. You don't really even know it's happening to you as it's happening. Basically what happens is you either take too much OR maybe you took it on an empty stomach or something (or both, even worse still) and the thing is most addicts just expect they'll wake from it at some point because usually they do. When they DON'T, though, that's when an overdose is fatal. An overdose is basically just you taking so much of a powerful sedative in the form of the heroin or oxy or whatever it is, and you're in such a depressed (physically, not emotionally) state that your lungs and other essential organs "go to sleep" too. When the lungs stop working, you stop breathing obviously, and if you don't have intervention ASAP chances are very good you're going to die. The one time I overdosed I had only just started shooting up and I was deep in the throes of my addiction, so much so that I skipped out on food if it meant that I'd have more money for drugs. So I ended up taking this shot on an empty stomach. Fortunately I wasn't alone. I don't remember anything beyond just sitting on the couch and falling into a deep sleep. Next thing you know I feel cold water on my face but it wasn't enough so THEN I got slapped in the face and that's when I truly woke up.

The mood of the country is like 1820's America where the disparity between economies is becoming more and more clear, except it's not as much a regional thing like it was back then it's more of a class thing now. With machines getting more and more sophisticated, the need for manual labor is just disappearing. This means a lot of people will go without jobs as soon as machines are able to do their jobs instead. And they'd do it better, faster, and safer and wouldn't need to take a break or have any of the shortcomings that normal people usually do.

It says a lot when China pays their teachers three times what Oklahoma would. The US doesn't seem to put an emphasis on education anymore at all beyond the whole "learning the game then getting into the best college you can" thing. The educational system is crumbling. Well, the way the federal reserve works, it's basically designed that there isn't enough money and in fact never will be enough money to completely pay off ALL our debts. Their solution to "We need more money" is "OK, just go fire up the printing presses and we'll make MORE". They're literally printing money. And it doesn't matter how many bills they print, the actual "value" that backs it more or less stays static. It's basically a glorified "IOU". So what this means is that the more money they print and the more actual bills are in circulation, the less and less each of those bills is actually worth. This problem has been allowed to go unchecked forever. This is also why it used to cost $0.25 cents for a cheeseburger at McDonalds and $0.05 for a soda and fries or whatever, and nowadays the same thing costs like $6 or $7. We've been living with rising inflation our entire lives, so if you haven't noticed it I can't help but wonder if that was part of the plan the entire time. Per citizen the debt last I checked was closer to like $50 thousand per person if not more, and that's whether you went to college and have student loans or not.

It's more about the statement than anything else. It's just like she said, it's a nothing amount for most users. Yep. If you need a medication and it's illegal or some company has bought out the rights, I do think you are well within your human rights to break that law to get it. You should be allowed to self-medicate or see a doctor or do a combination of both IF YOU SO CHOOSE and not be anything more than advised by a physician for or against it. The fact that it would technically be against the law to procure a literal life-saving medication for you from other means if it was all you could afford to me is absolutely preposterous. I am not a Trump fan but the timing of this Afghanistan debacle is going to be THE issue that ensures Biden will not have a snowball's chance in Hell in 2024. Especially if Trump runs again which he almost certainly will and especially because the 2020 race was as close as it was. The fact is, I would prefer that this happened under Trump's administration instead. It was originally his plan anyway, we just tacked on a few months to it but ultimately more or less stuck to the deal TRUMP made. And now that we have, what would have been Trump's mistake is now Biden's. The only way the Democrats have a chance at winning is if Biden doesn't seek re-election in 2024. But here's the scarier and even worse part, like the damage from this is going to be done even sooner than that. In 2022 we have mid-term elections which are arguably more important than presidential elections when you begin to understand that Congress has more power to truly effect change than the President does (the President is meant to steer Congress to adopt his policies, some are successful at it, some aren't). If the Republicans see more success in 2022 than the Democrats, Biden's administration is effectively over. He won't be able to get anything done and he'll be called a "lame duck president" for it. The debacle wasn't his fault but his handling and response to it absolutely, 100% are his fault and it's too late to own it but that's probably what he should have done, not cast blame at everyone but himself.

It's more than anything just to reinforce the underlying thing that allows all of these organized crime syndicates to actually work -- fear. Fear through violence. These Mexican Cartels make LCN aka the Mafia look like The Mouseketeers, though. They have taken it too far, in other words, but at the end of the day if your business hinges on this idea that like "You are with us or against us" it wouldn't mean anything if you didn't make a few examples a long the way. It's just sad that for these cartels like "a few" is now almost basically on par with genocidal levels. Stuff LCN would've been like "all this bloodshed it's bad for business" the cartels literally run Mexico now so they are committing all of these atrocities so far with impunity.

I'm one of the people who actually don't believe he ever truly gave crack up. In fact, it might have been the cause behind him creating the pillows as well as the fuel that helped him actually see the entire thing through, from beginning to end. Crack doesn't put you to sleep. Quite the opposite in fact.

This is a good thing though a lot of the young kids getting into any kind of metal think their favorite stars are touring around the world ACTUALLY screaming. No, that's impossible. It's a combination of effects and then using what's called a "vocal fry" usually.

@shawntalbert Even George Washington didn't belong to a party and he even warned people about parties in general I believe in his farewell address or something like that, but it didn't take long for parties to form up. Throughout most of American history, there's always been two primary parties but it hasn't always been the Republicans and Democrats but idealistically they have been the same. Separation between conservative ideologies and liberal ones.

They are expensive because there is now an entire multi-billion dollar industry designed around "treating" sick people. Not "curing", treating. That's why I was like lul when the ObamaCare thing passed, as long as it was still working with private insurance companies. The rates are unbelievably high. All that it did was allow people regardless of pre-existing conditions or not to basically be required to sign up for some form of health insurance. I do not think that it will ever change, either. I am not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing. I just know for a fact that there's people like Martin Shkreli who will mark up the price of a drug because they can .

The fact is China's been basically using slavery to support it's industrial movement for longer than most of us have even been alive. There's a reason it seems like everything is "made in China". Because, well, it is, that much is true. And if they had to pay the employees a fair and competitive living wage that wasn't borderline them working for free, goods would cost a lot more than they already do. It was so bad at a company that makes processors or something like that that they actually had to install nets outside of the windows of office buildings to prevent people from jumping to their deaths. That says everything that they'd rather die than live another day subjected to the torments they are.

You end up paying a lot of the difference for it in taxes it sounds like because what you paid for it is still less than what the house is actually worth. It's a buyer's trap. Also, it's in freaking Detroit. Would you rather live in Detroit or SF? And that's not a loaded question either because I do understand SF is struggling nowadays with their own issues, but still, it's not Detroit.

I think if the problem is that a certain demographic can't afford to live in a certain area regardless of their job or situation, and if their family (if any) nearby isn't willing to take care of them themselves, then offer them a pre-made list of really, really cheap places to live and try to tailor it to whatever skills they may or may not have to help them get started somewhere they can afford. I don't know I think it's really sad there's such a discrepancy between the rich and poor in a city like LA but it is what it is. Sucks they may not want to leave what they feel like is their home, but if they can't afford it... you know what I mean? Come back when and if you can. It's taxed too much anyway I wouldn't live there if I could afford it.

Love how they disparage Western everything, ideology and all, while holding and equipping Western gear. Foolishly left behind by probably the dumbest president in the history of this country. I mean we've had some dumb ones but goddamn Joe Biden's Corn Pop fighting ass is unconscionably stupid. This is, ironically, one of the problems with democracy. They're not interested in selling you things that you can get already for cheaper. They're not in it for the "feel-goods". They are there to make a metric fuckload of money by selling something that society has deemed illegal to sell, something that is artificially worth like 10 times as much if not more than it would be, and they're OK with the risk especially now that they basically run Mexico. They do good things occasionally but it's never out of the good of their hearts, they're effectively running public relations campaigns on a professional level with holiday gifts etc. It's all just to maintain control of the situation, and they feel like even more than just buying the police on some level they need to even buy the people, something Pablo himself realized was effective as well. Just saying, if they found out a customer had a life-threatening illness and NEEDED the medicine, unless it was a political favor or for one of the bosses or something, they'd be like "How desperate are they for this medicine?" and maybe even crank the price up a little more because they know you'd pay it.

I mean IMHO Kenan Thompson is at least part of the reason the show IS being ruined. It's not even close to being a shadow of it's former glory. And yeah he is part of the reason the show sucks. He ended up ripping off more than a few Dave Chappelle segments, the most notable one to me off the top of my head is the "I Know Black People!" skit that Dave Chappelle not only did first, he did better. I do not think Kenan is a funny comedian at all. I also think it's really weird and telling that his former childhood-era co-star Kel Mitchell claims that Kenan doesn't have any interest in talking to him anymore, won't respond to him when trying to reach out, etc., but he has no ill-will about it or anything. Kenan's just gone Hollywood which is sad both for that but it's also sad because IMO he is less talented than he is actually talented.

If I was the CEO of Blockbuster I might consider puttinga few more stores in places like Alaska then. I do miss Blockbuster, used to rent games and movies from them all the time and there's just something magical about walking into one. I think they may be putting like crack chemicals in the stuff they do the carpets in because it's always a very distinctive like smell when you walk into one. It's really great. I wish they hadn't just gotten wiped off the face of the Earth.

@EnigmaEnginseer Yes in a lot of ways they used the good-will of Americans against them. They hid behind public buildings like hospitals and schools, and of course even children were utilized as weapons with regards to IED's and things of that nature. Bombing the soldiers who were trying to win their favor by giving them candy, etc. And as sure as the war in theory began with them bombing the world trade center, their greatest victory is they put a huge dent in the economy of the United States itself. The war lasted over 20 years and it was outrageously expensive for something that was ultimately doomed to be a failure.

@pooroldman5089 No, not every leader they had was hunted down and killed. Some were, yeah, but others popped up in their place. I am not denying they were murderers or that they hid behind women, children and innocents, but they did win the war at least. Besides, from their standpoint, we're murderers too.
