  1. No the fact is they don't rely on incest. They send people out to pull new people from the OUTSIDE aka OUTSIDERS to breed with. Christian being one of them. Dani probably being another. I am not saying they probably don't have some incestual relations but no that's the entire point they'll attract men primarily (and Pelle brought primarily men) to breed if they're selected for it and this happens every single year. And Pelle was just one of them, too, mind you. Beyond that, they only do the mass murder ritual every 90 years. It just so happened to be the year Dani went. The suicide ritual that happened first happens every year to elders that reach the age of 72. Someone like Rubin who is deliberately inbred is a rare occasion for them, they do that because they believe he'll be more intuitive and a prophet of sorts. It's not like they have noone else to reproduce with so they rely on each other, they rely on outsiders. That is the entire point of the reason they were brought there to be screened for breeding properties OR sacrificed OR both.
